7 rules of electric car ownership
An electric car offers many advantages, but it requires its own “tricks” in operation. Here are some useful tips for owners:
Careful charging
- Do not keep the battery at 100% all the time — this reduces its resource. The optimal range: 20–80%.
- Use fast charging (DC) only when necessary (traveling). For everyday use, slow charging (AC) is better.
Consider the season
- In winter, the range is reduced by 20–30%.
- In summer, avoid leaving the car in the sun for a long time — the battery does not like overheating.

Maintenance
Electric cars do not have oil, timing belts or automatic transmissions, but they still require attention:
- brake fluid;
- battery coolant;
- tires (due to high torque, they wear out faster).
Use “smart” functions
Activate the recuperation mode — it saves energy and reduces brake wear.
Route planning
- Use charging station maps (PlugShare, EcoFactor).
- On the highway - choose high-speed charging (DC), in the city - mostly regular (AC).
Long-term battery preservation
- Do not leave the car completely discharged.
- If you do not use it for a long time - keep the charge within 50-60%.
- Charge more often "a little" than rarely, but up to 100%.
Practical life hacks
- Use the night tariff for electricity - save up to 50%.
- Have adapters with you for different types of connectors (Type 1/2, CCS).
